A Beautiful Sunrise Up Arlington Way

Still looking for furniture, and I'm so glad. I headed out early this morning to make the hour-long drive to Watertown to look at an old vintage couch. It worked out so nice that she had to leave by 8:00 a.m. to get to work. It gave me a chance to be driving past Lake Poinsett, just as the sun was coming up. What a nice treat!

And what a glorious sunrise was just north of the lake, shining through the clouds over the farmland.

I've really been missing the Texas coastline, but this sure goes a long way to remind me that there is good everywhere we look. Everywhere! Really. Just get out there and look.

A Curious Look from a Mourning Dove

Those entertaining mourning doves - I never know what to expect! This one gives me a curious look. Well, Miss Dove, don't waste your time trying to figure me out. I'm an oddity.

Sunrise Therapy

Another beautiful sunrise. I think those are pelicans flying just above the horizon.

It's amazing how a beautiful sunrise can make last night's negative feelings fade away.

"The inhabitants of remote places will be awestruck by your signs;
You will cause those from the sunrise to the sunset to shout joyfully."

Bath Time for Robins

The robins have been pretty entertaining lately!

I guess humans aren't the only ones to fight over bathroom time.

Okay, guys - Gotta take turns!

But as long as they get cleaned up, I guess that's the main thing.

White Pelicans at Oakwood Lakes

The white pelicans at Oakwood Lakes did not disappoint!
It was definitely worth driving a little further to see them basking in the sun on such a perfect day -- a good way to lift my mood and take my mind off a few things I messed up during my move.

Wouldn't it be nice to be as carefree as a pelican?

Crab Apple Trees Galore

I've been seeing crab apple trees everywhere, and they sure are pretty. I wondered if they are useful for much of anything, so I looked it up and found that crab apples can actually be eaten, if you go for things that are pretty sour and you avoid their seeds and core. But more than that, they help to pollinate and cross-pollinate other types of apple trees. Just an interesting little fact about a beautiful tree.

White Pelicans at Lake Thompson

I enjoyed my walk along Lake Thompson a few days ago, but unfortunately I didn't see much as far as wildlife was concerned. So, I drove around looking for a good place to stop. Oh! This looks like a good place!

Seeing these white pelicans was very exciting for me and helps me not to miss Texas so much.

I think the white pelicans are very beautiful from a distance, although I think I favor the brown pelicans close-ups. They seem to be a little more "photogenic."

I can't wait to see more pelicans!

A Walk Along Lake Thompson

Needing a break from looking for used furniture and household stuff and from cleaning carpets (or rather, just going over the already clean carpets with water to get out some of the fragrancy smell the carpet cleaners left in - ugggh), I was so happy to accept an invitation to go walking along Lake Thompson with a new friend. It was very relaxing and the weather was close to perfect.

Driving back from Lake Thompson, I saw a flock of cattle egrets in a pasture. I was no stranger to white egrets and great egrets after living in Texas for a while, but I think this was the first time I saw cattle egrets, which are so named because they like to follow cattle around to eat up the ticks and other insects that the cattle stir up. I think they will sometimes eat them directly from the cattle, making it a symbiotic relationship, although I think they are mostly looking for "convenience food," hahaha... Sure makes a pretty picture, though. Seeing all the egrets gives me a taste of Texas.

Doves

Today, it got up to 60, or slightly above and the doves were having a hey-day!  It was fun to watch them, flying around, not a care in the w...
